I have recently bought a 12 month old Boxer who has had little if any basic training, most things we are coping with little by little, however he will insist upon jumping up on everyomr, are there any quick fixes for this problem, that really is his only downfall, would appreciate any advice Thankyou Ann

Hi Ann, there are a couple of things that you can do to stop this behavior. The first is as follows. As the dog goes to jump up on you step in towards him. Most people back up giving ground to the dog but by stepping in and taking ground you are generally pushing the dog back into a sit.
The quick fix is to buy a can of compressed air from Dick Smith or Officeworks ( they are used for cleaning computers) And as the dog jumps up simply spray between you and the dog. I have always found this to be a very quick deterrent. The important thing to remember is to reward your dog when he offers a more appropriate behavior so that he can tell the difference between the right and wrong thing. Good luck...Lisa
